Ipswich Town send ‘outstanding’ message to Leeds United and promotion rivals after ‘relentless’ win
With a commanding 6-0 victory over Sheffield on Wednesday, Kieran McKenna’s team showed no signs of slowing down.
Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, described his team’s 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday as “relentless” from the opening minute to the end. The Tractor Boys pulled off their greatest victory of the year thanks to braces from Omari Hutchinson and stand-in Ali Al-Hamadi, as well as goals from Nathan Broadhead and Cameron Burgess.
Along with maintaining pressure on Leicester City and Leeds United, Ipswich also gained a win. The Foxes were playing Chelsea in the FA Cup, but Daniel Farke’s team had already defeated Millwall 2-0 to move up to the top.
McKenna said: “I thought it was an outstanding performance from pretty well first minute to last minute in all phases of the game. We showed our identity, our style, our culture, the group.”
“It was probably the relentless of it. I think some of the football was outstanding, our pressing against a well set-up team but probably the way we kept going because at 3-0 sometimes the second half can be flat and the game can fizzle out, but we came into today with a real determination to deliver a performance first and foremost, not to think about the scoreline, the points or anything like that.
“I think the mentality to keep going in the way that we did was really very, very good.”
The Championship will now take a rest until the hectic Easter weekend, when Leeds United will visit Hull City and Watford. Ipswich travels to Blackburn prior to its delicious Easter Monday match at Portman Road against Southampton.

“Understanding he doesn’t always have to pass forward – aware of his surroundings. Does that so well. Finds himself in positions that if we lose it, he is in the best place to win it. I really enjoy watching him.”

Prior to Kamara’s transfer to Elland Road, Ross McCormack predicted that the player would be a wise addition. Incredibly, Kamara has validated the former Leeds captain’s assessment in his summer assessment.
Kamara is a vital component. Perhaps underappreciated for the work he puts in both offence and defence on the field. He’s been outstanding. Watching Kamara alone will leave you in disbelief at how productive he is.
The load is a concern. Kamara will now play for Finland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Wales over the break. When he returns, he is expected to start the final eight Championship games. It’s time to shine
