‘Embarrassing’ – Spotted: Sheffield Wednesday star does Leeds salute after 2-0 win last night

After Friday’s 2-0 Championship loss to the Whites, Marvin Johnson, a star for Sheffield Wednesday, was seen performing the Leeds United salute (8 March).

In a much-needed win for the Whites that put the Owls in the relegation zone with 38 points, the defender faced Wilfried Gnonto.

On the opposite side of the standings, Leeds passed Ipswich Town by two points and got closer to league leaders Leicester City before of their separate games against Hull City and Cardiff City.

Wednesday supporter James Kay posted a photo of Johnson doing the Leeds salute on Instagram on Saturday, March 9, along with the message, “Two weeks wages for me this, embarrassing.”

Leeds United claim vital 2-0 victory at Hillsborough

As the race for the crown heats up against Leicester and Ipswich, it is now crucial for Daniel Farke’s team. Any outcome in the championship games is possible because the top three teams are separated by just three points.

In the event that one of the Foxes or the Tractor Boys makes a mistake, the Whites may very well have to face their own destiny.

Leeds had a chance to win on Wednesday this Friday, as the Owls were winning five of their previous six games going into the game. Farke and his group were nevertheless always favorites notwithstanding.

Following a 2-0 loss to Danny Rohl, Patrick Bamford and Gnonto of the promotion-chasing team demonstrated why they are gaining ground on the top two teams in the Championship.

Gnonto scored a beautiful goal for Leeds’ second goal of the game, giving Marvin, who had been assigned to mark the latter, little to do but watch. This gave Leeds all three points.

‘Outstanding’ – Ex-FIFA Ref hits back at accusations after what he saw in Leeds win v Sheff Wednesday

Referee Sam Allison received high marks from Keith Hackett for his work during Leeds United’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.

In a match devoid of any significant moments of controversy, the Whites won 2-0 at Hillsborough due to goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford.

And that was due to the referee’s performance that evening, according to former FIFA official Hackett, who praised him on his own Twitter account on March 8.

“I am often accused of failing to praise referees,” he wrote.

“Sam Allison delivered an outstanding performance in the match Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United.

“Well done to him and I hope that he gets another game in the Premier League.”

Leeds United win with minimal fuss

Any club’s supporters would likely struggle to recall a period when their side participated in a match in which the referee didn’t attempt to steal the show.

With some solid tackles and a decent energy to the game, Allison performed a terrific job during the Hillsborough game, where the fans were rowdy and passionate for their team to win.

What you want from a referee is that he let both teams play, used advantage when it was appropriate, and stayed mostly out of the way.

Leeds was able to show off their talent on the field and win convincingly because there were no difficult decisions to make. This led to a great performance.

Fans would be ecstatic and VAR would probably not be as controversial as it is now if every game was like that. Congratulations to Sam Allison for improving the game.
