Willy Gnonto sends message to Leeds United teammate Georginio Rutter
Plymouth Argyle presented a challenge to Leeds United, but they managed to prevail once more by doing just enough.
In 2024, the Whites have won eight straight games under Daniel Farke, and they are unbeaten. Now riding a strong wave of momentum, they are ranked second in the Championship.

In the second half of the match, Plymouth put pressure on the opposition and kept Illan Meslier busy. Joel Piroe became a source of support for Rutter for Leeds, and just when it looked like the team was losing its cool, Farke made a strategic substitution.
Following the match, Rutter posted his thoughts on Instagram. “Johnny’s life (translated)” was what he wrote.
“Man of the match,” was Gnonto’s response to his post.
Huge Leeds turnaround for Rutter
Rutter joined Leeds during the January transfer window of the previous season while they were Premier League players. The Whites shattered their transfer record by paying almost £30 million ($37 million).
The 21-year-old seemed to be a catastrophe of a signing as he had trouble adjusting to the league’s fast pace. Many people were afraid that Rutter might be sold in the summer after Leeds was relegated.
Still, Farke most likely believed he could bring out the best in him. All Rutter needed was some time and some assurance from his supervisor.
With 11 assists in the Championship this season, the former Hoffenheim attacker has primarily played behind the striker. Additionally, he has already scored six goals.
Leicester City is still in the lead and nearly unbeatable in the league table. Despite playing one fewer game than Southampton, Leeds is ahead of the Saints by two points. Leeds has hopes of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League if they can continue on this current level of play for the remainder of the season.
