Daniel Farke believes that Leeds still has to reinforce a few areas because the team hasn’t made a single deal this month, and they have less than 48 hours left to make one.

Ben Godfrey of Everton is one man Farke has been attempting desperately to sign; the two used to work together at Norwich City.

The idea of a transfer, though, has been seriously cast into doubt after Sean Dyche gave Godfrey 90 minutes in Everton’s 0-0 draw with Fulham yesterday night.

Godfrey has been disgruntled by his lack of playing time this season, according to Dyche’s admission last week. This Tuesday night marks just his second Premier League start of the year.

In spite of the constant rumours, Dyche’s statement indicates that he still views Godfrey as a part of the team and that a move to Leeds is not at all likely.

After the 26-year-old’s impressive display last night, Leeds may have to give up on any hopes of him departing. The club has already had one loan offer rejected for the player, but they expect to make another.

Given his versatility as a back four player, he would have been an excellent addition for Leeds at this level, therefore this would be a devastating blow to them.

Dyche’s most recent move does not seem good for Leeds’ chances of signing Godfrey, since they have already seen their pursuits of players like Ben Johnson, Calvin Ramsay, and Neo Williams cease.

“Leeds’ priority will be to extend Gnonto’s contract. This is getting closer and would be fantastic news for Leeds. They’re pushing for the contract to be signed in the next hours or days. This is their priority.”

That Gnonto is signing a new contract less than six months after declining to appear in three club games may sound absurd. He doesn’t resemble the player who made his Premier League debut.

However, it is reasonable to suppose that the uncertainty he is currently experiencing will have a significant impact on his performance on the pitch. If Leeds were to remove that and give him a fresh contract, Gnonto could be able to flourish.
