Leeds have been keen on ‘exceptional’ £4m defender for a ‘long time’
Calvin Ramsay, a defender for Liverpool, is presently being connected to Leeds United; the team has apparently been watching Ramsay for a “long time.”
The Whites may use adding some defensive reinforcements after letting Luke Ayling and Djed Spence go this month.
As to the Daily Mail’s Transfer Confidential, Ramsay is presently being considered by Leeds as one of the players.
According to the source, Liverpool will soon decide on the 20-year-old’s future, and the Whites are one of the teams keeping an eye on the situation.
Leeds know Calvin Ramsay “inside out”
More details about Leeds’ interest in the Liverpool full-back were revealed by Phil Hay during an interview on The Square Ball podcast.
The journalist with The Athletic stated, “You’ll have seen Calvin Ramsay linked at Liverpool.”
Leeds has been keeping an eye on him since the end of the last administration. When [Victor] Orta was at Aberdeen, he was one of the guys he scouted.
Leeds really came very close to obtaining him. I believe he would have been better off signing for the academy or the under-21 team at first, but he was definitely on the verge of making the cut.
“Leeds are intimately familiar with Ramsay. He was at Preston, but as there weren’t many games there, he was called up.
“And similar to Carvalho’s move to Hull, I believe Liverpool is adamant about these guys playing where they will be a member of the squad.
“I guess Gray’s injury—the severity of which is unknown—causes a problem at right-back.
However, the fact that you can’t quite tell where you’ll fit into this team from the outside looking in presents a recruiting challenge.
Calvin Ramsay a good shout for Leeds United
Ramsay moved to Liverpool from Scottish team Aberdeen in 2022 for a reported £4 million, with the possibility of a £6.5 million transfer fee.
Unfortunately, the young defender has only played twice for Liverpool thus far due to a number of fitness and medical concerns.
Ramsay’s experience with loans hasn’t been fantastic either. Preston and he became friends, but after just two games in the first half of the season, he was called up.
In the summer of 2022, Jurgen Klopp thought highly of the man who was rumored to be a target for Leeds.
Watch to see if the Whites can sign him before the January transfer window closes.
