According to Football Insider, Leeds ‘have initiated preliminary talks regarding a loan-to-buy deal’ for Godfrey, who pockets £75,000-a-week on Merseyside. The centre back’s departure from Goodison Park has been approved by Sean Dyche, and negotiations between the Whites and the Toffees have begun.

Godfrey, who has made 72 appearances under the German coach, played every position along the back line, including holding midfield. Godfrey was a member of Farke’s Norwich team that won the Championship twice.

Godfrey, who has been called a “monster” by the media, hasn’t played much for the Toffees this season, appearing in the Premier League just twice. Therefore, a reunion with Farke in the lower division would appeal to him.

Farke has previously praised Godfrey, saying: “He’d provide cover in a number of defensive positions, and it could also allow Ethan Ampdau to return to midfield.”
