Ex-Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips ‘reaches agreement’ for loan move with ‘wages fully covered’

After having trouble at Manchester City, Kalvin Phillips is almost certain of his next professional transfer.

Kalvin Phillips, a former Leeds United player, is finally leaving Manchester City for a fresh challenge after months of rumours about his future.

The midfield player moved from Elland Road to the Premier League champions in 2022, but his transfer did not work out as planned. Since making the transition, Phillips’ playing time has been limited, and several clubs have expressed interest in signing him. For some time now, he has been connected to a possible exit.

This season, Phillips has only made four league appearances and has missed sixteen opportunities to come off the bench. The 28-year-old may, fortunately, be on his way to a more regular role—at least through the end of the current campaign.

West Ham has’reached an agreement’ with Man City over a loan agreement for Phillips that will last until the summer, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. Personal terms are “not expected to be a problem,” and the England international’s “full wage” will apparently be paid by the Irons. His contract includes a buyout option as well.

Before the season began, City was ready to approve Phillips’ loan move, but the midfielder was adamant on staying at the Etihad to compete for a spot in the starting lineup. But with Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes joining in the summer, his opportunities have become even more constrained.

Phillips was initially intended to sign a short-term contract with Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, but the two teams have not reached a mutual understanding.

After paying a hefty £105 million to sign club hero Declan Rice in the summer, West Ham has added Edson Álvarez and James Ward-Prowse to their midfield, but they still want to add additional alternatives as they pursue a spot in the European league. With eight points separating them from the top four right now, the Hammers have a good chance of overpowering their opponents before the season ends.

£75k-a-week ace admired by Rio Ferdinand tipped to join Leeds

With the January transfer window ending in just over a week, Leeds won’t have much time to finalise any transfer agreements.

The stalemate between Leicester City and Ipswich Town on Monday night would have delighted any supporters of the Elland Road team since it reduced the latter’s advantage to only five points, while the league-leading Foxes remain unassailable at 12 points.

With 18 games remaining, 54 points are still up for grabs, and Leicester has not experienced a wobble or injury crisis—two things that could be anticipated at some point throughout the campaign.

Daniel Farke and his team need to be determined to chase down and eventually overhaul the teams above them, no matter what they do.

The German will greatly benefit from his experience leading Norwich from the Championship to the Premier League, and one of his Canaries teammates may soon be joining Leeds’ pursuit of promotion.

Be aware that Ben Godfrey, a 26-year-old centre back for Everton, has fallen in the hierarchy at Goodison Park and may be open to reuniting with Farke.

Rio Ferdinand, a former Leeds star, also previously called Capology, a player who earns £75k a week and is “absolutely outstanding” on his Vibe with Five podcast.
