23-year-old wants to stay at Tottenham and fight for his spot rather than leaving on loan this month

The 23-year-old prefers to fight for his position at Tottenham rather than go on loan this month.

Alasdair Gold, a Tottenham insider, claims that Oliver Skipp would prefer to stay and compete for a starting position at the club.

Because Ange Postecoglou has favoured Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr as this starting partnership, the youthful midfielder has slid in the pecking order.

Starting with Bissouma at the start of the season, Skipp has been replaced by the outstanding Sarr.

However, Skipp will have a chance to play in his natural position and establish himself because Bissouma and Sarr won’t be there.

Alasdair Gold said the academy graduate wants to stay and compete for his place, not move out on loan this month. Since Tottenham doesn’t have many choices in the midfield, that fits with their current intentions. Gold notes that this could alter later on, though, based on their midfield lineup.

Through Football London, he reported:

“Though that could alter in the summer depending on the sheer quantity of players in the midfield, Oliver Skipp is said to be eager to fight for his spot rather than heading anywhere this month, which fits nicely with Tottenham’s ambitions. Also, Skipp hasn’t been utilised much in his more comfortable position as number six.

It’s possible that Skipp will think about going on loan if Tottenham signs a midfield player during this transfer window.

Report: Tottenham showing interest in Barcelona man with a €500 million release clause

Tottenham Hotspur may end up buying two centre backs in January rather than just one as the club continues to hunt for one in the transfer window.

Spurs and Manchester United are reportedly in the running to acquire Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

In the past few days, the Lilywhites have made great strides towards closing the deal on Radu Dragusin, one of their center-back targets.

The last stages of negotiations between Tottenham and Genoa are now being revealed by renowned writer Fabrizio Romano. North London representatives expect the agreement to close by the end of next week.

Spurs may decide to concentrate on a different center-half because the current one is practically set.

Christensen has two and a half years left on his current contract, which keeps him at the La Liga powerhouses until June 2026.

With 19 games this season, the Danish international has been a reliable member of Xavi’s starting lineup.

In 2022, the 27-year-old was recruited by the Spanish powerhouses on a free transfer from Chelsea. He was given a four-year contract with a €500 million release clause.

Together with Ronald Araujo, Christensen forged a strong defensive tandem that year, which enabled Barcelona to maintain the most clean sheets out of all five of Europe’s top leagues.

According to the source, Tottenham and Manchester United are keeping a careful check on the center-back’s circumstances and are ready to act given the financial circumstances of the Spanish club.

With 161 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League, the former Chelsea player has a wealth of expertise that may be useful to any suitor.

Known for maintaining his cool on the field, Christensen is a dependable center-half who was dubbed the Danish Maldini by West London supporters during his time in England. He is at ease with the ball at his feet and possesses dominating aerial skills.

If the team is able to get Dragusin, Ange Postecoglou would prefer a defender of Christensen’s reputation but would not force them to go after him.
