‘I keep hearing…’ – Journalist claims Leeds could sign Premier League ace playing tonight

Leeds United transfer news: Charlie Taylor return from Burnley in the frame amid Josh Doig update

Charlie Taylor might rejoin Leeds United during the January transfer window, but Graeme Bailey says a deal for Josh Doig appears “tough.”

When it comes to the Burnley defender’s name being mentioned in relation to the Whites buying a left-back this month—which he thinks is finally likely this window—the journalist told One Leeds Fan Channel on January 4 that he “keeps hearing.”

Doig of Verona was linked to Leeds in a deal worth more than £5 million [Toro Goal, December 31]. Although Bailey hasn’t ruled out a move for the Scot, Taylor, a former Elland Road player, is still mentioned frequently.

Josh Doig (10m 55s) is a good player, and Bailey expressed his admiration for him. Full-back is obviously a position Leeds has been considering on both sides.

Josh Doig, I haven’t heard anything from him on Leeds, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they made a strong case for it. Although I must say that I believe that £5 million is a little low, I don’t think you could acquire him, but he’s still someone to watch out for.

“Charlie Taylor’s name keeps coming up when people talk about returning.” Although I understand that Leeds supporters aren’t too crazy about him, I believe a left-back will be added.

“Doig would be a tough one for Leeds to get done this month but never say never.”

Return?

In the summer transfer window, Burnley’s lack of coverage prevented Leeds United from trying to bring Taylor back to the team.

He was left off of the starting lineup for the Clarets’ Premier League games against Tottenham, Manchester City, and Manchester United, but he has since established himself as a sort of regular for the former captain of the club. On January 5, he started the FA Cup match at Tottenham.

That being said, it’s debatable if Burnley would permit the 24-year-old to depart now as opposed to throughout the summer.

Bailey has been hearing smoke, but there might be fire beneath the surface, especially with only six months left on his current contract and the possibility of top level sides making their own signings during the winter window.

Given that the full-back positions appeared to be in the greatest need of improvement this month, Daniel Farke’s decision to terminate Djed Spence’s loan came as a surprise and made the possibilities less favourable just days after the transfer window opened.

The position of left-back above all seems to be where the Whites need to finally make a move at since Sam Byram’s fitness issues have returned.

In the unlikely event that a pricey deal for the highly sought-after Doig cannot be reached, it may finally be time for Taylor and the public to reunite.
