Tottenham move for Champions League star now ‘one to watch’
Champions League talent now considered “one to watch” is acquired by Tottenham.
After losing Harry Kane earlier in the season, Tottenham Hotspur has been linked to moves for several strikers ahead of the January transfer window. Journalist Dean Jones has spoken out and given an internal update on their transfer plans.
Though he lost Kane before he could play a competitive game, Ange Postecoglou has managed to get a tune out of his team in the first few months of his employment. Further reinforcements may be required in January as the north London club won’t want to rest on their fantastic start and let their competitors pass them.
Spurs have coped without Harry Kane so far
According to Sky Sports, Kane departed Spurs during the summer transfer window to sign a £100 million contract with Bundesliga team Bayern Munich. Daniel Levy had to make the difficult choice to cash in on the England international rather than take the chance of his departing on a free transfer because his contract at Hotspur Way was about to expire in the summer.
Since Kane left, Spurs have been strongly linked to a number of attackers; but, the Lilywhites were unable to acquire one during the summer window. Ivan Toney of Brentford was being courted by Spurs, according to Journalist Jones back in August, but the deal fell through. Because he violated the FA’s betting regulations, the English forward is temporarily barred from playing football; however, he is eligible to play again in January.
Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano claims that Gift Orban, an attacker for Gent, and forward Jonathan David of Lille are both valued by Spurs.
But during his tenure, Postecoglou has mostly used Richarlison and Son Heung-min as center forwards, and given that the north London team is currently leading the Premier League, it’s safe to say that this strategy is effective.

Dean Jones update
Son is off to one of his best seasons to date as a forward; his new role through the center of attack is really helping him. It will only take a few injuries for the Spurs’ current forward dynamic to fall apart, though, as Richarlison is their sole reliable backup option in this role.
According to what Jones has heard, Spurs are searching for a forward player rather than a number nine. The journalist continues by saying that Kerem Akturkoglu would fit the type of player the club is looking for. It is said that Postecoglou and his recruitment team are targeting him. According to Jones…
“Well, they’re trying to scout quite a few players at the moment, Tottenham, that are just capable of adding another attacking edge to their team. So, there are plenty of reports out there suggesting that they are scouting him [Kerem Akturkoglu]. It is not one that I have heard personally but it would fit with exactly what I’m being told that they are looking for. They’re not looking for an out-and-out striker right now, they’re looking for another player that can go in and around that frontline. So yeah, it’s certainly somebody to probably look out for, especially while Galatasaray are in the Champions League.”
A forward isn’t the only signing Ange Postecoglou wants ahead of January
Spurs might certainly use reinforcements in more areas than just adding a new forward; in order to assemble a competitive team that can win the Premier League, they will need to add quality players to every position on the field. When the January transfer window begins, potential outgoings may change their intentions, but they are apparently hoping to add another body to one position.
Additionally, journalist Jones disclosed that at the beginning of 2024, Spurs’ top goal will be to buy a new center-back. Although Micky van de Ven joined the team in the summer, Postecoglou is obviously looking to add more players to the back.
