Jack Harrison is aiming to build more momentum after scoring his first goal for Everton last time out, having left Leeds United on loan for the season.

For those who believed they were above competing in the EFL, there are a number of intriguing situations unfolding outside of the tumultuous Championship season, where Leeds seem strong under Daniel Farke.

One of them is Jack Harrison, who joined Sean Dyche’s Everton on loan in August with the intention of bringing Premier League stability to Goodison Park following two seasons of scrapping with Leeds for survival.

Harrison shines at Goodison

Harrison and the Toffees are in a good mood as the international break gets underway after to their 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

With three well-taken goals, the home team dominated the match from the outset. Harrison increased the Toffees’ lead with a beautiful curling attempt after Cherries goalkeeper Neto mishandled a clearance.

Harrison then unintentionally assisted Abdoulaye Doucoure in scoring the third goal by accidently blocking a shot from close range that fell to the midfielder with the goal gaping.

After the game, Harrison spoke to the Everton website about it, making comments that Leeds supporters took as a not-so-subtle jab at the team:

“You see how much it means to the fans when you’re working hard and for me, I’ve always said that’s the least you can do.

“I always try to replicate that. It’s an honour to be out there and to leave everything out there is what I always try to do. It’s nice that the Everton fans pick up on that.

“I’m building back my fitness now. I was a little bit tired towards the end, but I’ll always keep pushing myself to the limit, and it’s great to do that in front of fans that appreciate it.”

Harrison not coming back?

This kind of remark, whether made with malicious meaning or not, practically proves that Harrison had left Elland Road for good, if there was any question about it.

David Ornstein stated that a permanent agreement would be finalized in “due course” at the time of his signing with Everton, indicating that plans are in place on the Merseyside side of things to have him sign a long-term contract.

Adding his remarks following his first goal to this just strengthens the argument that he won’t be returning to Leeds because neither Leeds nor Everton want that to occur.

He isn’t completely tearing up relationships like some other people, but he has made it difficult to picture him returning to Elland Road wearing a Leeds jersey.
