Done Deal: Starlet called up to first-team training seals Leeds exit to join club on loan

Leeds United out-of-window transfer exit news emerges on goalkeeper Darryl Ombang

Leeds United announced that Darryl Ombang has signed an initial loan agreement for a month after leaving the club outside of the window.

On Friday, October 13, the Whites confirmed on Twitter that the teenage goalkeeper has signed a new contract with the team.

Following that, they announced on their website that he has transferred to the Yorkshire club in order to obtain first-team experience.

Good move?

A one-month loan agreement seems odd at this point; it would have made more sense if it had been extended at least until the January timeframe.

If everything had gone well, they might have been able to sign him for a cheap price, and if not, another team might have tried to hire him.

However, because he’s just staying for a month, it’s more of a trial than a loan agreement, so it’s unclear how things will turn out.

Ombang appeared to be moving in the right direction toward earning his senior debut when he was summoned up to first-team practice back in December.

He will probably be best suited to going out on loan because the club believes that this is the greatest method for him to continue his professional advancement.

Illan Meslier is still in his early 20s, so if he stays at Elland Road for the foreseeable future, it’s unlikely that any of the academy students would usurp him.

Dan James claims that he has always wished to demonstrate his dedication to Leeds United in the summer.

While representing Wales internationally, James spoke to the PA News Agency on his return to Elland Road and his start to the season there.

James’ future at Leeds had all but disappeared under Jesse Marsch last summer, despite his recent arrival from Manchester United for £25 million.

Marsch deemed him unnecessary despite the fact that he started against Chelsea and Everton in August, and as a result, he joined Fulham on loan for the season.

James found it difficult to have an impact at Fulham, so he came back to Elland Road in the summer with the intention of sticking around and demonstrating his dedication to Leeds.

James ‘feeling fit and ready’ at Leeds

James said in regards to his start to the season that he is now “feeling fit and ready,” which he believes has played a part in his recent excellent run of form.

He said: “It’s great to be back. As soon as I got back in the summer I just wanted to play and show that I was there to stay and work hard. We had a little bit of a tricky start, but we’ve had a good run of games and we’ve just got to keep pushing.

“It’s always harder when you haven’t played many minutes, not just physically but mentally as well. You need to get into the rhythm of games and I’ve got that at Leeds now. I’m feeling fit and ready and, when that happens, everything comes naturally.”

There is no denying that James has had a significant influence this season despite the fact that he can still be a difficult player to watch.

The 25-year-old scored his first goal of the season in the 2-1 victory over Bristol City last weekend. He has already contributed four assists in the Championship.

Even though there is a case to be made that James does not belong in Leeds’ top lineup when everyone is well, his performance thus far cannot be discounted.
