Rhind-Tutt raised Bowen’s England recall before querying: “What are the qualities that have made him stand out in your team?”
Moyes responded: “Well I’m not going to answer anything about Jarrod getting in the England team before a West Ham cup game tonight so let’s keep to the West Ham questions please.”

Before the match, however, Moyes took exception to a question posed by TNT Sports’ Archie Rhind Tutt, who asked: “How did Jarrod Bowen get called-up to the England squad? What qualities have set him apart from the rest of your team?”Moyes said: “I won’t be answering any questions about Jarrod Bowen getting into the England team ahead of today’s West Ham cup, so let’s stick to the questions about West Ham.”
After that, Rhind-Tutt posted on Twitter that “David Moyes had a go at me and I’m still not sure why.”

Moyes has had a long career. several times. The Hammers manager has done it all and earned the t-shirt.
After Rhind-Tutt asked the question, he was fully aware of the direction the conversation was taking.
The majority of TNT Sports’ pregame coverage had been devoted on James Ward-Prowse and Southgate’s decision to pass on him once again despite his excellent play.

Moyes knows that if he answers the question about Bowen’s inclusion, the next question will be about the decision not to call-up Ward and that would be out of line just before West Ham have an important European match coming up. He would also look like a fool, a hypocrite and could be accused of double standards for praising Bowen’s inclusion and then refusing to comment on Ward’s non-selection. By shooting down the Bowen question, he has killed any chance of the question being asked about Ward Prowse.
Moyes has never criticised international managers for their squad selections.
In fact, he never criticises them at all. Even in his Newcastle press conference, he played it straight – pointing out that it is ‘a difficult job’ to pick his own team, let alone pick Gareth’s. The Scot also pointed out that England have ‘a number of fantastic midfielders’ in competition with Ward Prowse in an effort to put the noise to rest.
However, one person who was happy to attack Southgate for his decision was former England star, Hargreaves.
