The Daily Mail has reported that the EFL will receive a 14.75% revenue share from next season’s deal, plus an additional £88million bonus payment later this season.

The value of the deal will depend on the final sale price of any deal. However, it is understood that the share that will remain is likely to be twice the current £130 million solidarity payments that the Premier League makes to the EFL, not including parachute payments to relegated clubs.

It is understood that the deal will initially only involve the sale of overseas rights from 2028/29, with domestic rights likely to be included in the future.

The Premier League are currently looking to sell the next set of rights from 2024-2028, and it is understood that this will be the next deal to include the EFL from 2028 on.

The latest overseas deals have enabled the Premier League to make £5billion in three years.

The report also states that domestic broadcasters such as Sky Sports would “support a domestic version” of the agreement, as they would “prefer to buy Premier League rights in conjunction with EFL rights, providing additional long-term certainty”.

The EFL chairman, Rick Parry, has long called for an EFL-Premier League tie-up in order to ensure EFL clubs’ financial progression is more aligned with that of their counterparts in the Premier League.

It now appears that Parry’s vision is set to be fulfilled in the long term.
