Daniel Farke now knows he cannot hand starts to Marcelo Bielsa signing who keeps wasting chances

Leeds United will now turn their attention to Saturday’s home game against Watford as Daniel Farke looks to get his side’s first win in the league this season.

The Whites have picked up four points from two difficult away games this week, but that could have been more last night as they missed a golden opportunity to take the lead in the first half before Joe Rodon’s red card changed the game in the visitors’ favour.

Why couldn’t Leeds find the net?

Ryan Allsop’s impressive debut for Leeds proved to be a source of frustration for the hosts, as he made four smart saves to keep out fierce first-half efforts from Cryssandr Solinh and Gerevinia Rutter, both of which should have been converted.

Leeds dominated the first half and had the majority of possession and opportunities, yet Allsop was tested a number of times when he should have had more. Dan James replaced Summerville in favour of the Dutch winger, who had been brought on early due to Willy Gnotta’s injury.

It is important, however, that Leeds do not over-use Gray, who is still only 17 years old. During the latter stages of the match at the Stadium of Light, he began to appear to be limping. With only two days to get ready for the match against Hull, Leeds now have one more short turnaround before facing Watford on Saturday.

Farke should unleash Kamara on Saturday

This weekend’s game is a great chance to get Kamara going from the get-go, with Daniel Farke looking to freshen up his engine room. Gray has been doing really well so far this season, but Leeds could end up wasting him if they keep using him like that.

Kamara has had a relatively short period of time to become accustomed to his teammates and manager Farke’s system, having only been in action for nine minutes since his arrival.

The right-hand side of Leeds’ defence was not performing well against Hull, and Kamara’s possession-based game could be the key to unlocking deeper defences in home games, as the club have drawn all three of their matches so far this season. With the busy schedule ahead of them, it is essential that Farke deploy Kamara on Saturday.
