PHIL PARKINSON says Davis Keillor-Dunn’s ‘hunger’ and ‘desire’ to prove himself at a higher level appealed to him and he’s delighted to land the striker for Wrexham’s crucial run-in.

The 28-year-old has joined from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2028-29 season.

It marks a return to The Racecourse for Keillor-Dunn who signed a short term deal with the club in January 2020 after leaving Ross County and scored one goal in six appearances before the coronavirus crisis brought an abrupt end to the National League season.

After deciding to move on later that year having impressed, Keillor-Dunn had successful spells with Oldham Athletic, Burton Albion and Mansfield Town before signing for Barnsley in August 2024.

He scored 19 goals in his first season with the Tykes and netted 13 times in 24 League One matches this term, prompting Parkinson to make a move for the frontman.

Davis continues to develop as a player,” said Parkinson.

He is a player who’s done really well over the last few years and he’s got real hunger to prove himself at this level. We look forward to giving him that opportunity.

I’ve watched a lot of him over the years and he’s a talented footballer.

He’s got moments of real quality in his game, and you look at his goals he’s scored being played as a number nine this season; he gets his shots away from the edge of the box but he also follows things in.

He’s always in and around that six-yard box and that’s where he gets goals as well, so he gets all types of goals.

But I think it’s more the hunger and desire which resonated with me. I like his story, the way he’s had to fight to prove himself in his career, and one thing we know is he’s going to give us everything.

He knows a few of the boys already and I’m pleased we’ve got him.

Parkinson further added to his attacking options by signing Bailey Cadamarteri from Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.
