Plymouth announce official plans in the event Leeds United are crowned Championship winners

With promotion in the bag, Saturday will determine whether Leeds United are crowned Championship winners or have to settle for second place behind Burnley.

To keep Leeds in the running for the Championship crown, Daniel Farke leads his team to Plymouth Argyle in the season’s last match. When Burnley plays Millwall at home, they just need to replicate their performance.

Both teams are on 97 points, but Leeds has a much better goal differential, therefore a victory will be achieved regardless of what Burnley does to Alex Neil’s team. However, Leeds might still win the title even if they lose or fail to win.

Leeds will undoubtedly want to end on a high note and earn 100 points for the first time in the clubs’ existence. On the other hand, even though Plymouth is only three points from safety, they are essentially sent down.

Plymouth confirm plans in the event of Leeds winning title

It is almost impossible for the Whites to organise a lavish celebration on the pitch with the Championship trophy when Leeds is away, unlike when they were at Elland Road after their incredible victory against Bristol City on Monday night.

But since Argyle would need to score 14 goals and all the other teams would have to lose, they were demoted. In the event that Leeds were promoted, Plymouth has informed supporters of their plans on their website.

“They said: “With much riding on the game for our visitors, we are expecting Leeds United supporters to travel to the South West in numbers and surrounding areas to be very busy in the build-up to the match.

“If Leeds are crowned champions, a small stage will be erected in front of the away end with the Leeds players able to celebrate with their travelling fans as per league traditions. This will take place once the Argyle players have departed the field of play.”

Leeds United’s injury status ahead of Plymouth Argyle clash

Currently, Leeds have four injury worries. The first of those is Isaac Schmidt, who was left out of the squad on Monday for the 4-0 triumph. After the game, Farke acknowledged that Schmidt had a knee problem.

Schmidt’s availability to play against Plymouth is uncertain, and Dan James stated that he had a “slim chance” of doing so because of the hamstring injury he suffered during the victory over Middlesbrough.

In other news, Joe Rothwell has been sidelined since suffering a calf injury the day before the Luton tie, while Pascal Struijk is out for the season. He was expected to return for the game against Bristol City.
