MP delighted as five-figure Leeds United agreement struck
The players of Leeds United have always been the beating heart of their community, bringing the one-club city together on the Elland Road surface.
This extensive worldwide support system is a result of the proud city of Yorkshire, whose citizens now seem to be receiving assistance from their club in a recently publicised move.
A bid for a significant player in the local football scene has now been approved by Leeds under Paraag Marathe, which might significantly safeguard the team’s long-term future.
Leeds MP delighted after bid accepted
For the TV Harrison Sports Ground in Wortley, Leeds United submitted a £50,000 bid to the Leeds Schools Sports Association (LSSA) in 2022 under Andrea Radrizzani.
According to Mark Sewards, MP for Farnley & Wortley, who made the announcement on Facebook on 19 March, LSSA has now accepted the offer, putting the Whites in position to possess the property for the next 250 years.
The sports venue, affectionately known as “Wortley’s Wembley,” is now somewhat shielded from the earlier proposals to construct houses on the property prior to LSSA’s ownership.
Leeds United and local residents will now consult to make sure the agreement is accepted by everyone in the area. An agreement has been reached to stop any house constructions and maintain the sports pitch, ensuring that the neighbourhood remains one of the most popular places for people to play.
Since Leeds’ bid falls under the Assets of Community Value rules, Sewards notes that any party may now submit a bid to equal Leeds’s within the six-week period that follows.
Marathe and 49ers giving go-ahead to key community initiative
“Wortley’s Wembley” was the original home of Leeds football legends like Brian Deane and David Batty, as the Yorkshire Evening Post noted on March 20.
Given the recent success of the academy at Thorp Arch, the Whites have since benefited from a variety of local talents, and grassroots venues are crucial to maintaining the production line.
The fact that Marathe and the board acknowledge this at the top of the hierarchy and are prepared to make some financial commitments to preserving the local youth’s grassroots prospects is fantastic.

Since no new housing constructions would be constructed on their local estates, locals will undoubtedly support the proposals, especially those with small children who are interested in sports. They will also probably be able to maintain the rising value of their properties.
