The Dallas Cowboys’ star quarterback Dak Prescott may soon be out of the game if the front office is unable to secure a new deal for him. If this occurs, he will become a free agent in 2025 and seven teams might try to sign him.

The Dallas Cowboys wanted to select a young quarterback to replace the aging Tony Romo, so they entered the 2016 NFL Draft with that intention. They ultimately chose Prescott in the fourth round after failing to trade up for other highly-touted prospects.

He took advantage of the chance, leading the Cowboys to the top seed in the NFC and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year while setting multiple rookie quarterback records. Prescott has performed admirably ever since, leading the Cowboys to three more division titles and three trips to the Pro Bowl. His outstanding leadership off the field has matched his impressive on-field performance, as demonstrated by his 2022 NFL Man Walter Payton

As things stand, Prescott’s Cowboys contract is about to expire. Two tweets from Nick Korte and Bill Barnwell on X suggest that multiple teams might be interested in signing the star quarterback if an extension cannot be reached by both parties.

“I’m trying to figure out which teams would target Dak Prescott if he were to become a free agent in 2025. The Steelers, Raiders, Seahawks, and—this could get spicy—the Giants are the four teams that come to mind. If their rookie quarterbacks perform horribly, Panthers, Titans, and Colts, perhaps. Korte sent a tweet.

I’m writing this week about Dak. If their quarterback situations don’t work out this season, the Giants, Seahawks, Jets, Steelers, Titans, Saints, and Raiders seem like the obvious choices. Should the Tua deal fall through, the Dolphins would be among the contenders. Barnwell responded to Korte’s tweet by saying, “If Young doesn’t get better, the Panthers would be a longshot.”

In the eight seasons Prescott has played in the NFL, the Cowboys’ quarterback has amassed 202 touchdowns, 29,459 yards gained by passing, and has a 50 percent passing success rate, among others. He also led the league in completed passes last season by making a total of 410.
