‘Sack of potatoes’ – BBC pundit laughs at how Watford man reacted to ‘Frustrated’ Leeds ace

Leeds United: BBC pundit laughs at Edo Kayembe reaction to ‘frustrated’ Crysencio Summerville

Edo Kayembe of Watford came under fire from Jon Newsome for his response to a shove from Crysencio Summerville, a winger for Leeds United.

During Friday’s Championship match at Vicarage Road, Summerville gave Kayembe a nudge on the chest in the first half (29 March).

The player from Watford threw himself to the ground, maybe trying to get his opponent sent off, but the referee would have none of it.

Crystal Summerville was irritated, according to former Whites defender Newsome, who was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds on March 29 at 20:08.

Edo Kayembe of Watford was defeated akin to a bag of potatoes. Summerville only caught him in the chest, so I wasn’t sure if she had caught him in the face or the throat.

Leeds United frustrated by Watford at Vicarage Road

First of all, you can never be too certain of what a referee will do, thus Summerville had no right to respond by touching Kayembe.

Thankfully, the man in the middle realised that Kayembe’s response was excessive on this particular occasion.

With a theatrical and quite hilarious move, the Watford player hurled himself to the ground, looking as though he had been struck in the face.

For the most part of the game, Watford was able to exert pressure on their opponents despite the failure of this performance of theatre.

In the end, Summerville’s strike in the first half gave him the upper hand over Kayembe.

It was just not meant to be for the Whites, who were defeated 2-2, which may come as no surprise considering several of the players’ recent international achievements.

Spotted: Graham Smyth shares what he saw Ampadu doing to Leeds teammates before Watford clash

Ethan Ampadu was spotted “serenading” Glen Kamara and Sam Byram before Leeds United faced Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday (29 March).

Injury-plagued Byram made only his third Championship start since the beginning of February, and Ampadu was forced into his natural midfield position by Ilia Gruev’s absence.

Graham Smyth shares what Ethan Ampadu did to Leeds United teammates before Watford clash
Ahead of kickoff, the Welshman was spotted comforting his teammates by singing to them, as Elton John’s “Your Song” reverberated throughout Vicarage Road.

The following is what Graham Smyth posted on X on Friday, March 29: “Ethan Ampadu is serenading Glen Kamara and now Sam Byram – “How lovely life is now you’re in the world.”

Mateo Joseph saved a late point for the Whites as Leeds, regrettably, couldn’t muster much of a game plan as they were held to a 2-2 draw.

Is Ethan Ampadu destined to be Leeds United captain?

Ampadu joined Elland Road on a permanent deal from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, but he appears to have taken on a leadership position among his teammates already.

The fact that the 23-year-old and Kamara are still in love is also encouraging, as seen by their midfield duel during Wales’ 4-1 victory over Finland during the international break.

Given the extreme strain the Whites are currently under, it is critical to have one player who understands how to defuse tense circumstances and make everyone feel comfortable around him before a crucial game.
