Phil Hay drops Leeds financial update as FFP breach risk mooted in last 48hrs

Leeds United: Phil Hay shares brand new PSR update amid ‘frustration’ at Elland Road

According to Phil Hay, Leicester City may face consequences this season, although Leeds United maintains they have not broken any profit or sustainability regulations.

According to The Athletic journalist, both teams were subject to the same £83 million loss cap under PSR; Leeds maintains they have remained compliant, while Leicester is apparently under scrutiny.

According to an earlier report by iNews on March 12, Leeds would likely exceed a cost cap of approximately £11 million if they were promoted back to the Premier League, hence potentially breaking planned spending regulations.

Hay said that in order to avoid financial difficulties, the team will need to balance the books during the transfer window if they don’t earn promotion this season.

Could Leicester City receive a points deduction?

With less than ten games remaining, it would be challenging to finalise before the season ends, but according to The Athletic’s story, the EFL would prefer to fine Leicester for any suspected financial infractions this season.

Leeds will be even more irritated by this, given they have cut the gap on the league leaders, and a possible loss of points may propel them up the standings and increase their chances of winning the title or getting promoted automatically.

This has reportedly caused discontent at Elland Road as well, as the team has been competing with Leicester for promotion while adhering to the regulations, much like they did with Everton.

Leeds feels they have been badly impacted by another team breaking the rules while they have stayed inside the restrictions placed on them, maybe to their own harm. This situation can be compared to Everton’s in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke needs to make sure his Leeds United team is prepared for Sheffield Wednesday.

A prospective legal battle may be in the works at Elland Road if Leicester is not punished this season, as Everton was not punished the season before. The club will probably want to claim damages, just as they promised to do with the Premier League team.

‘You forget how tall he is’… Pundit says £7m Leeds player is actually brilliant in the air

For Leeds, Patrick Bamford has just found his best form again.

The striker has contributed significantly to Leeds’ recent outstanding play and has demonstrated to the Championship what a former England international looks like.

Recently, Bamford has been nothing short of extraordinary, and he once again contributed on Friday night against Sheffield Wednesday with his link-up play.

Speaking on the LS11 Podcast, Ben Parker has been talking about Bamford’s recent performances and has emphasised how amazing the striker is in the air. He says it’s simple to overlook how physically strong Bamford is.

Patrick Bamford has amazing aerial skills.

Parker talked about the £7 million striker.

“We don’t get the first goal if Bamford doesn’t get the start on Friday. Parker stated, “He’s physically strong and tall, so you kind of forget how tall he is. Bamford wins the first header in the second goal, so his importance around these elements is a major reason why he’s playing well and the rest of the squad is playing well.

Grown

Parker is true when he says that it is easy to overlook how physically strong Bamford is.

You hardly ever think of Bamford as this dominant center-forward, maybe because he came into the game as a tiny adolescent on loan from Chelsea.

But after putting in a lot of time in the gym and growing older, the striker is now a real handful for Leeds thanks to his ability to dominate headers and intimidate opponents.

We wouldn’t be surprised at all if Bamford finds his form from that amazing 2020–21 season if Leeds do make it back to the Premier League the following season. He appears to be getting close to returning to his best.

Bamford is performing once more.
