UEFA bigwigs not on West Ham’s Christmas card list
When West Ham takes on Freiburg in the crucial second leg of the Europa League semifinals, the game is scheduled to kick off at 5:45 p.m.
Supporters are furious at the decision, which was made so that broadcasters could air Liverpool’s game at 8 p.m.
Additionally, hundreds of seats at London Stadium remain unoccupied little over a day before kickoff, making it nearly impossible for many supporters to attend the game.
Contingency plans for final revolve around Liverpool and Rangers
Because West Ham is being given a real slap in the face by UEFA, who are planning backup plans for the Europa League final.
Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports reports that Liverpool vs. Rangers will take place in Dublin, and that Liverpool will have special accommodations made by FIFA.
According to Solhekol, UEFA is worried that, in the event that such a scenario occurs, Dublin’s 51,700-seat Aviva Stadium will be insufficient.
As a result, the 82,000-seat Croke Park has been set aside for public viewing.
And UEFA are also going out of their way to look at extra places for fans to see what may be Jurgen Klopp’s last game.
Could it be that supporters of lower-tier teams like West Ham are weary of Liverpool and other teams receiving preferential treatment?
West Ham are massive and UEFA wrong to ignore us
Fair enough, UEFA would want to see Liverpool advance to the championship due to the competition’s “prestige.”
But the Rangers? West Ham is a far stronger option to advance to the final than the Scottish team, even with a 1-0 first-leg disadvantage.
If anything, UEFA need to be getting ready for West Ham supporters more than anybody else. Considering that just a small number of tickets were available for the event, approximately 30,000 people travelled to Prague for the final.
It will be a claret and blue invasion if the Hammers make it to Dublin. Therefore, UEFA needs to prepare backup measures for West Ham.
However, it is imperative that David Moyes and the team defeat Freiburg first.
