Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have been left stunned by the form of Leeds United, although they insisted Leicester should have won the clash at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s team won both of their matches against the league leaders this season to support their promotion campaign, including the Championship match, which finished 3-1 in favour of the hosts.

In particular, McCoist was taken aback by Leeds’ home form, but he was also surprised that Leicester fell to the Yorkshire team when the promotion fight was still going on.

Upon hearing about Leeds’ undefeated record at Elland Road this season, McCoist, who was speaking live on talkSPORT [6 March, 07:28], remarked simply, “Incredible.”

Brazil then revealed: “How about Southampton versus Leeds for the final game of the season? I saw the Leicester game; although Leeds won, Leicester dominated for more than an hour.

After that, McCoist said, “Let’s be honest, I’m not going to say that Leeds stole it for a minute, but I bet Leicester could not believe they lost that game.” I thought Leicester played really well, but Leeds scored first, and you kind of thought they would score again, therefore the game finished 3-1.

Would Leeds United be able to secure the title?

Although it had appeared certain, there were hints that Leeds could fight for the Championship after their record of 12 games without a loss in the Championship and Leicester’s recent decline in form.

The Foxes’ fortunes did, however, improve as they defeated Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light. Farke’s team then achieved the same outcome at Elland Road against a struggling Stoke team, with Daniel James scoring the game’s winning goal.

Leeds’ unbeaten home streak has served as the cornerstone of their outstanding season thus far. A key component of their style of play is their confidence entering every game at Elland Road believing they can win.
