‘Massive’ – Don Goodman sends ‘Crazy’ message to Leeds fans after Daniel Farke sack calls

Leeds United: Don Goodman shares ‘crazy’ advice after Daniel Farke sack talk at Elland Road

By the end of December, Farke was under increasing pressure after losing on the road to Preston North End and West Brom in quick succession.

Leeds was then nine points outside of the top two in fourth position, but they have since gone on a club-record-tying nine-game winning streak.

That run came to a stop this past weekend with a 1-1 tie with Huddersfield Town; Leeds are currently two points behind Ipswich Town in second place.

Leeds United: Don Goodman shares 'crazy' advice after Daniel Farke sack talk at Elland Road

And since that low moment at The Hawthorns a little more than two months ago, Farke has truly won over supporters.

“Don’t be crazy,” Goodman told MOT Leeds News in response to any Leeds United supporters demanding Daniel Farke’s resignation at the end of December.

“This is a man who knows what it takes to win the league, twice doing so with Norwich sides that probably weren’t as good as this Leeds one.

“So it was only a matter of time for the players to gel, others to get fit, and I never felt they would be out of the race for the top two.

“At the same time, did I see them winning nine in a row? Probably not. I expected them to be in the mix but they’ve now gone beyond that.

Leeds United have made Elland Road a fortress

Goodman added: “They lost away at West Brom and Preston at the end of December and their form was patchy – they weren’t flowing the way they’re flowing now.

“But it was the away performances that was holding them back. At home they were always good and still remain unbeaten.

“So the key was how could they turn around those away performances. They beat Cardiff away in early January and haven’t looked back

“That’s despite going to some difficult places like Bristol City, like Plymouth Argyle, who were previously unbeaten in nine.

“You’ll often hear the word ‘momentum’ mentioned in football – it really is a massive thing.”

Leeds United relying on Ipswich Town to slip up

Although Leeds may still be disappointed with their sluggish start to the season, the progress they have made since the beginning of January is quite astounding.

The Whites had won seven of their nine games and amassed 27 points out of a possible 27 before the tie with Huddersfield.

Leeds is still the most successful team in Europe this year, even after dropping two points at John Smith’s Stadium.

Elland Road has been a fortress for Leeds United this season

Currently, Farke needs to focus on reviving the momentum when Stoke City visits Elland Road on Tuesday, March 5.

Leeds’ chances of earning automatic promotion are officially gone because Ipswich now leads by two points.

But there are still a lot of twists and turns in store for what is sure to be an exciting race for Premier League promotion.
