Max Wöber is scheduled to left Leeds United for Borussia Monchengladbach, after the signing of permanent deals by Luis Sinisterra and Robin Koch.

The Premier League relegation of Leeds led to several concerning events in the transfer market. The squad was no longer able to compete for new players as they once could, and they also lacked the ability to prevent important first team players from going out on loan.

Max Wöber was among those who left to join Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, keeping his place in the top division in the process.

Despite his team having one of the poorest defensive records in the division, Wöber’s loan with the German team seems to be going well.

His performance has been impressive enough that it seems like a formality to extend his loan permanently, according to Gladbach Live:

“In the professional squad, the transfer plans for two players at Borussia Mönchengladbach are already clear: Max Wöber (26) and Jordan Siebatcheu (27) are to be maintained over the coming summer.“

Wöber was acquired by Leeds from Red Bull Salzburg a little over a year ago for an estimated £10 million.

Although the exact amount of money being discussed to keep Wöber at Monchengladbach is unknown, one may assume Leeds has only consented to it since it benefits them financially.

After spending £10 million on him just 14 months prior, Leeds will not want to let him go for a lowball offer because doing so would result in a loss even if some of his contract is voided.

It would be wise business for the club to pay an eight-figure sum for the Austrian, regardless of the tier the team plays in the next season.

Since his value won’t increase significantly from here on out, cashing in to obtain reinvestable funds makes perfect sense.

The possibility that Wöber’s sale will enable us to finance Joe Rodon’s permanent signing is enough to justify it on its own.
