‘Idiot’ – Bamford reacts to what happened in Leeds win over Leicester as footage shared

Patrick Bamford reacts to late moment in Leeds United win over Leicester City, ‘idiot’

Forward Patrick Bamford of Leeds United says he felt foolish celebrating his own goal late in the game against Leicester City.

As Bamford added a third goal for Leeds in the 3-1 victory, he extended his knee to deflect a free kick from Daniel James into the net.

When Sky Sports released the goal footage at full time, Bamford was given credit for it in addition to James, who had believed the goal to be his.

Bamford said to Sky Sports on February 23 when asked how he felt after first celebrating by himself: “As I was running off, I didn’t realise and I turned around and everyone was on the other side of the pitch.” My appearance was a little foolish.

When questioned about his feelings following his initial solo celebration, Bamford said to Sky Sports on February 23: “I didn’t realise until I was running off that everyone was on the other side of the pitch.” I appeared to be a little foolish.

Leeds dig deep to beat Leicester at Elland Road

Any striker will tell you that every goal counts equally, regardless of how it enters the goal or leaves the goal.

Although Bamford scored a goal that could have won the Puskas award early in the season, the quality of this goal was completely different.

With a knee extended, the 30-year-old sent the ball sailing past Mads Hermansen. He was given credit for the goal because he actively stuck out a knee and the ball changed direction.

There was a certain amount of luck involved, as Bamford acknowledged. James probably would have gotten upset if the ball had veered off course.

As it stands, the Welshman could not care less about the goal—his or Bamford’s—what matters is that Leeds persevered to win a match that they appeared to be well out of with just over ten minutes remaining.
