‘No sign of…’ – Journalist shares 1st-team Leeds player missing from 20 at Plymouth Argyle

Jaidon Anthony update emerges as Leeds United arrive at Plymouth Argyle with three goalkeepers

According to Benen Cross, Jaidon Anthony is not in the Leeds United team for the early kickoff in the Championship match against Plymouth Argyle.

The on-loan Bournemouth winger was not present at Home Park on February 17, according to a tweet from the Leeds Live reporter prior to the match.

There are three goalkeepers among the group of twenty, though, and there haven’t been any more unforeseen absences noted.

“With the 20 players that have shown up, there is no sign of Jaidon Anthony,” stated Cross. The remaining 20, as you might imagine, are all goalkeepers, save for three.

Prior to the match, Daniel Farke had said that Karl Darlow was anticipated to recover from his dislocated thumb shortly and that the Whites would be without its senior three of Patrick Bamford, Pascal Struijk, and Sam Byram [Yorkshire Evening Post, 16 February].

The fact that he is likely one of the three stoppers with the travelling group suggests that the latter has in fact occurred, but the fact that there isn’t another attacker is a further development.

With Crysencio Summerville in starring form and Willy Gnonto having stepped up in recent weeks after the injury to Dan James it is unlikely that Anthony would have been involved heavily, but any additional players being ruled out is never what a manger wants.

Farke and Leeds United will be needed to win this match in their battle for automatic promotion, as Argyle is in 15th place, in order to maintain their scorching 2024 form.

However, since the start of the year, the only games in all competitions that haven’t been decided in under 90 minutes have both involved the opposition that plays tonight; on the previous visit to Home Park on February 6, the FA Cup draw was followed by a 4-1 replay victory after extra time in appalling weather.

The Whites will so try to simplify things this time around even without Anthony and Bamford engaged.

Phil Hay claims that a Championship competitor was left with a “bitter taste” following the 49ers’ direct actions to finalise a significant deal. This is additional Leeds United news.
