Since the transfer window is closing this week and no new players are likely to arrive, Leeds United is not expecting to finalise a signing today.
With five wins and a tie in their most recent FA Cup match against Plymouth, Daniel Farke’s team has begun 2024 with a strong unbeaten streak of six games.
The team is in need of reinforcements, but there hasn’t been much to shout about in terms of recent off-season purchases. Something has to be done about this.
Leeds’ transfer headaches mapped out
Luke Ayling was able to spend the second half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough after Leeds terminated Djed Spence’s loan to the squad early in January.
Because of these transfers, the team is severely lacking in right-back depth, while left-back issues are well-known due to the alternatives’ propensity for injuries.
Center-back is another position in the back four that need improvement, particularly in light of Pascal Struijk’s continuing injuries.
If Leeds are feeling especially avaricious on deadline day, it would be worth looking at the right wing as well, since they only have Dan James, who has played well on that side.
No signing for Leeds expected today
As of right now, the club is not moving forward with any agreements and no signings are anticipated to be finalised today, according to Graham Smyth of The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds United academy graduate Jack Jenkins is set to join non-league side Halifax Town on a loan deal until the end of the season following his spell with Scunthorpe United earlier this season. Jenkins is into the final six months of his Elland Road deal and spent the first half of the campaign at Glanford Park with promotion-chasing Scunthorpe. The former Football League outfit have fallen into the sixth tier in recent times, but are currently second in the National League North standings. Halifax, on the other hand, are tenth in the National League, one division above the Iron and look set to welcome Jenkins for the remainder of the campaign.
The Whites’ youngster has one senior appearance to his name at Leeds, having been introduced from the bench during Leeds’ FA Cup Third Round defeat to Crawley Town in 2021. The 21-year-old has since spent time at Salford City and Scunthorpe on loan, but looks set to depart Elland Road this summer upon the expiry of his contract. In the meantime, Jenkins will look to prove himself in the National League with the Shaymen who sit three points beneath the end-of-season play-off places. His time at Scunthorpe came to an end upon the conclusion of his initial loan deal which ran through until January.
Jenkins has made over 50 appearances for Leeds’ Under-21s during his time with the club but has not been made available for recent fixtures against Jong PSV or Sunderland as he looks to complete a loan switch
