Leeds United in race to sign Nottingham Forest man as the Reds ask for £6m fee

Joe Worrall, a defender for Nottingham Forest, is wanted by Leeds United, but the Reds are demanding £6 million to sign him, according to Alan Nixon.

Sheffield United is a formidable rival for Leeds United, who are eager to entice the center-back to the Championship before the transfer market closes later this week.
The 27-year-old Worrall’s future at the City Ground is unknown, and he hasn’t played much lately.

According to reporter Nixon’s most recent update on his status on his Patreon page, he is seeking a price of £6 million in response to interest from the Whites and the Blades.

If Leeds were prepared to meet Worrall’s asking price, he would be a fair addition. He is aware of the requirements for promotion to the Premier League.

Under former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, the former England youth international contributed to the team’s 2022 ascent.

Up until now, Worrall has spent his whole career on the Reds’ roster, having advanced through their academy system.

Before making his debut appearance with their first team in 2016, he was a regular at several youth levels. Since then, the guy from Nottingham has made 226 appearances across all competitions, nine of which have occurred this season, and he has five goals from behind the defence.

He has a contract that ends in June 2026, but it looks like he might be moving much earlier.

Worrall is a player who would strengthen Leeds’ defensive line, and they have until Thursday to make the final roster changes. They could have to thwart Sheffield United’s interest, though.

Leeds United are very much in the market for new defenders before the end of the window.

The clock is against the Whites because they haven’t yet made their initial move into the market and have fewer than 72 hours to finish any outstanding transfer transaction.
Despite the fact that full-backs are currently their first focus after the departures of Luke Ayling and Djed Spence earlier this month, it looks like they are now keeping an eye on another central defender.

Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Leeds are interested in acquiring Joe Worrall, a center-back for Nottingham Forest, although Sheffield United will once again be a rival.

Worrall, who is 27 years old and has not been as successful at the City Ground this season, is rumoured to cost around £6 million.

Leeds keen on £6m Worrall

Charlie Cresswell’s departure appears to still be a possibility as Leeds has been connected to Ben Godfrey, another center-back, this month.

The Whites have turned down many bids for Cresswell this month, and it seems probable that he would depart after Daniel Farke benched him from several matchday squads because of behavioural issues.

Nevertheless, Cresswell made a surprise appearance as a late substitute for Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup this past weekend, following Farke’s revelation that the two had had some fruitful talks.

Leeds may or may not pursue agreements for both Worrall and Godfrey at this time, even though the latter is significantly more versatile and can play a variety of places throughout the backline.Godfrey also benefits from having been Farke’s employee.

Leeds appears to be very busy in the last few days of the window, so perhaps they can get some business over the finish line.
