This season, the Englishman only made ten appearances for Manchester City; a move to London might give him newfound energy.

David Moyes made a smart decision by enlisting him. In the upcoming days, may Moyes try to sign another Premier League player?

West Ham’s pursuit of new players

TalkSPORT reports that West Ham has been given the opportunity to recruit forward Callum Wilson from Newcastle United this month in an attempt to allay worries over the Magpies’ potential violations of Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

In view of Wilson’s track record in the top division, Moyes may find that accepting Chelsea’s bid and Newcastle’s asking price of between £18 and £20 million makes sense.

Wilson might be the perfect option for the Irons, especially considering how much better he is than Danny Ings, if they want to perhaps win another title under Moyes.

The stats that show why Callum Wilson is better than Danny Ings

Wilson has participated in 215 Premier League games over his career and scored 86 goals, while Ings has appeared in 216 games in the top level and scored 70 goals.

Wilson has scored once every 2.5 games, compared to Ings’ once every three games. Given this disparity, Moyes might be enticed to make a formal approach for the striker.

With just 10 goals in the preceding 18 months since the beginning of the 2022–23 season, the current Irons striker has not had the greatest of times.

Callum Wilson’s domestic stats since the start of last season 2022/23 2023/24
Goals 18 7
Assists 5 1
Shots on target per game 1.1 1.3
Big chances created 5 1

Although he has not been as prolific this season, the Newcastle forward has still outpaced the Ings with 26 goals since the beginning of the previous campaign.

In fact, the former Bournemouth player has contributed more goals (eight versus zero) and made more shots on target per 90 minutes (1.86 versus 0.76), created more shots (15 versus 12), and had more touches in the opposition penalty area (59 versus 13) thus far in 2023–24. These statistics unmistakably indicate who Moyes should prefer.

At the start of the previous season, Eddie Howe called Wilson “incredible,” and he was a key player in the Magpies’ first top-four finish since the 2002–03 campaign.

Despite missing 14 games due to various injury concerns, the 31-year-old striker has nevertheless scored seven league goals this season, despite his less than stellar performance last year.

The Scot’s goals might be a major factor in helping West Ham secure another top-eight finish if Moyes can get healthy and productive again.

With Wilson’s assistance at the top of the pitch, the former Manchester United manager led his team to another continental prize as the club advanced to the Europa League round of 16.

The Irons’ pursuit of glory and a run for an NBA title would be furthered by the signing of Philipps, who is a huge coup, and by Wilson.
