Fabrizio Romano shares 'Excellent News' for Leeds

After a breakthrough season under Daniel Farke in which he made 26 starts across all competitions, the midfielder’s contract was originally scheduled to end in 2025. However, he has now further pledged his future to his boyhood club.

“Leeds United talent Archie Grey has agreed to a new contract valid until June 2028,” stated Romano on social media. The existing agreement, which was set to expire in 2025, will be replaced with a new one that will last for the next four and a half years.

“Great news regarding Leeds United.”

Stunning

At a time when transfer interest in Gray’s services was at an all-time high prior to 2024, this is a tremendous development for the entire club and its supporters.

You know you’re doing really well at Elland Road when Premier League teams like Liverpool are reportedly interested in you, and Grey has shown that since his arrival.

The young player, who plays right back, has excelled so far this season and has established himself as one of the first names on the squad sheet at the organisation.

Farke clearly knows what he is doing with Gray’s position because the role will add a whole new dimension to his tactical understanding of the game when he eventually moves back into midfield. This makes his development and progress all the more remarkable given that he isn’t even playing in his preferred midfield role.

Given how many players the Whites have had to let go following their relegation, it was crucial that they ensure his future.

In addition to making a huge statement for Leeds United, Gray’s new deal may serve as a warning to players who are likewise expected to make large moves—such as Crysencio Summerville and Illan Meslier—that not always the grass is greener on the other side.

They will undoubtedly be examining Gray’s bargain with great pleasure and thoughtful analysis. However, Premier League football needs to be resealed first and foremost.
