Doctor: Leeds Star may be out of Cardiff clash with hamstring injury, fitness test on the cards

Leeds United v Cardiff City: Doctor issues injury update on Sam Byram

We are pleased to have Dr. Rajpal Brar, a specialist on injuries, as our featured columnist. He will provide his opinions on Leeds United’s injury situation every week.

Dr Rajpal Brar reports that Sam Byram, a defender for Leeds United, could miss the match against Cardiff City due to a hamstring injury.

According to the injury specialist, it was first thought to be a knock but turned out to be a hamstring issue.

Since the match is set for Saturday, January 13, he will most likely have to go through a fitness test on Friday or early on Saturday morning.

Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapy specialist, said the following about Byram in an exclusive interview with MOT Leeds News:

The damage was defined as a knock, which usually results from physical contact. Then, it was diagnosed as a hamstring strain.

We don’t have enough information to provide a best-case or worst-case scenario.

“He may, however, take a fitness test on Friday or Saturday morning. There are reports that he might return over the weekend, but there is always a chance he won’t.”

After working out for the team for many weeks, Byram was re-signed by Leeds on a free transfer in the summer.

He has established himself as a mainstay under Daniel Farke, ranking higher than Junior Firpo.

Firpo has started at left-back during his absence, though it’s unclear if he’ll stick at that position until he’s fully fit again.

Archie Grey, a midfielder for Leeds United, is reportedly being linked to Manchester United, according to Fichajes.

After rejecting the €20 million buyout option, Manchester United is content to lose loanee Sofyan Amrabat and is focusing on Leeds United kid Grey instead. The Premier League is showing a lot of interest in the 17-year-old, who has been an outstanding player for Daniel Farke’s squad.

The player is reportedly very popular with Liverpool, and in the last week, Tottenham has also been mentioned in relation to him. Fichajes claims that the Red Devils are considering a move for the adaptable midfield player, albeit there are questions about whether Grey would be permitted to join a rival team.

It would require a substantial chunk of money for Leeds United—who are rumoured to have set an asking price of between £40 million and £50 million—for the Whites to part with one of their most valuable assets, either in January or during the summer transfer window.

A good move?

Should Grey manage to sign a contract with Manchester United, he may achieve even more success. Grey would probably benefit from the move to Manchester United, as they are known for giving young players an opportunity. A club of that magnitude typically doesn’t promote youth, but Grey would benefit from that.

They won’t want to lose one of their best players to a rival team or a Premier League squad, though, if they manage a top two finish or win the play-off final, given their rivalry and Leeds United’s potential promotion in a few months.

Leeds United should maintain hold of him no matter what if they think he is more valuable to them right now in their pursuit of promotion or even to cash in later for a larger sum of money.
