Spurs ‘preparing an approach’ for striker with 62 goals after club dramatically reduces asking price

Since the summer, Jonathan David has been connected to Spurs as a potential Harry Kane successor.

Tottenham even made contact with the French team to talk about a transfer for him, but they were met with an offer of €60 million, which is presumably the contract’s release clause.

However, in light of his lacklustre performances this season, Lille has now reduced their asking price to €40 million, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Spurs are reportedly “preparing an approach” to lure him to North London, so this news is a huge boost for the team.

Several clubs expressed interest in Jonathan David after his stellar season in which he scored 26 goals in all competitions.

Since joining Lille in 2020, he has made 136 appearances for the team, contributing 11 assists and 62 goals.

Tottenham needs players to fill a number of places in their small team.

Although the midfield and defence are regarded as priorities, Spurs still require an attacker.

Richarlison is hurt and experiencing form issues, while Manor Solomon and Perisic are sidelined due to injuries.

Brennan Johnson was signed, but that is insufficient, especially because they will be missing their captain and best attacker, Heung-min Son, for a month in January during the Asian Cup.

Son has scored the majority of the team’s goals, therefore they will need a superior all-around striker who can contribute to the score, especially when he isn’t around.

Additionally, the 23-year-old Canadian attacker might be a great asset to the team.

summer signing, pushing for sudden exit

Tottenham summer signing is not happy with his current situation and wants a January exit

Alejo Veliz, a summer acquisition for Tottenham, is allegedly looking to go on loan to Bologna in the upcoming transfer window since he isn’t getting enough playing time at Spurs.

Back in the summer, Veliz was reportedly paid £13 million by Tottenham to leave Rosario Central.

Spurs signed the 20-year-old South American striker as an investment for the future since he is regarded as a very skilled young player.

The 20-year-old South American is apparently depressed at the little opportunities he has had at Tottenham thus far, though, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Bologna has declared him their “top target” for the striker position. Bologna was interested in signing him in the summer.

If Tottenham gives the player the go-ahead, the report claims he would seize the opportunity to join the Italian team.

In the midst of an injury crisis for the Spurs, Richarlison had pelvic surgery, and Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon are still out with chronic problems.

Johnson, Son, and Kulusevski are now the only attacking options available to Spurs. Veliz now has the chance to experience playing for the Spurs first team thanks to these ailments.

In January, the North London club was connected to another assailant. Veliz could be a good candidate to be loaned out if they do sign one.

He would benefit from regular playing time and priceless experience that would further his development.

It remains to be seen if Ange approves of a loan move for him in January.
