Tottenham could re-sign player Levy sold for £30m if they’re in title contention in January
The door may be open for Tottenham to seek to re-sign the iconic midfielder now that Modric is only contributing in a minor way to Real Madrid.
Luka Modric comments open door for Tottenham return
The majority of the time this season, Carlo Ancelotti has chosen to use younger midfielders. Modric is now on the sidelines and doesn’t play as frequently as he would like because of this. The Croatian player has acknowledged that he does not want to be idle.
“I can’t play as much as I’d like or as much as I used to, and that’s definitely a new situation for me,” the 38-year-old remarked.
“I always want to play. I don’t want breaks. I don’t want vacations. I want to play because that’s when I feel best and that’s how I prepare for matches the best.”
Spurs would be wise to monitor the situation as a result.

Return to North London would be glorious
That is, assuming Tottenham is in the running to win the championship or, at the very least, finish in the top four by the end of January.
Currently, it appears a foregone conclusion that Spurs will indeed be included in that mix.
And if Modric is still sidelined, he might very well be the ideal short-term addition to pull Tottenham over the finish line and bring the team some victory.
There is not a single Spurs supporter alive who wouldn’t want Modric back. However, Modric’s talent is on a different level from that of the current Tottenham team, despite the fact that Spurs currently have several talented younger midfielders who are performing well.
Modric would obviously need to be persuaded that the initiative was the right one before leaving Madrid. However, Tottenham will always hold a special place in his heart, and the way Ange Postecoglou is handling things at the moment, the seasoned midfielder may find it alluring.
Modric was only sold by Daniel Levy for £30m. A comeback in January and an impact on making the top four—or better—could ultimately offer a much-needed soother to the blow of that discount sale.
