Tottenham supporters who can’t help but feel terrible for the defender have had their hearts crushed by a new video of Eric Dier.
In preparation for Monday’s Premier League match against Fulham, Tottenham players returned to the practice field as the international break came to an end.
The social media team was recording the players going back to the ground.
When Eric Dier entered the room, he greeted the cameraman but appeared quite defeated as he informed him that there was no need to record him because the footage wouldn’t be used in any manner.
You don’t have to film me, he said. I am aware that you won’t make use of it.
Come on man, we’ll get you in, the cameraman said in a sympathetic manner.
Dier hasn’t played a single minute for Ange Postecoglou’s team and has only been used as a substitute in three of Spurs’ nine games.
In the summer, there were rumors that he would move elsewhere, but nothing came to fruition.
Burnley, who were also interested in signing him, made a late offer that Spurs rejected.
Although it is challenging to witness, Ange has established a very high bar for the treatment of the veteran.
The defensive pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who have excelled and developed into Spurs’ starting back two, is a very good one.
Due to the lack of depth at the defense, Dier might have a chance if the defense suffers an injury.
It’s probable that he will be sold in January, though, as his contract is set to expire next summer.
In the upcoming transfer window, AS Roma has lately expressed interest in hiring him, and Jose Mourinho is rumored to be interested in doing the same.
Spurs would also prefer to close a deal in January rather than risk losing him to another team for nothing in the summer.
Truth be told:
It is upsetting to watch Dier, a loyal teammate, completely sidelined in this way.
Nevertheless, emotions aside, his performance last season was not his finest, and it has only gotten worse this season.
It makes perfect sense why Ange doesn’t have time for Dier given how well Micky van de Ven and Romero are performing.
