Former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said in an exclusive interview with Football Insider that officials shouldn’t be penalized indefinitely and expressed his hope that they have assessed their actions and learned from them.
When Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham was incorrectly ruled offside in a match between Liverpool and Liverpool last month, England served as the VAR official while Cook served as the assistant VAR.
However, England will be back as the fourth official for Brentford’s home game against Burnley the following week after both were stood down.
The Sheffield United vs. Man United game will include Cook as the assistant referee once more.
Hutton responded to Football Insider’s question by saying, “I think that is the appropriate thing.
“They have been punished for making their mistake – how long do you punish somebody? It was human error, they made a mistake and as long as they have learned from it.
“I am sure they will have reviewed it, how they can change things and make it better, so I do not think we should punish somebody for months just because they made a mistake.
“I think this is the right thing for them to come back in. A lesser job, not out in the spotlight to ease them back in but I think it is ultimately the right decision.“

“There is no other team in the Premier League I would want to win than Tottenham. I have to be respectful to Bayern Munich and of course, the fans know I will always have a soft spot for Spurs – there is no question about that. Of course, I hope [Tottenham] do as well as possible but my main attention is where I am now and trying to perform for Bayern.”
Will Tottenham sign anyone in January?
Even though Tottenham’s domineering performance has only been that, there are still rumors that they might bring in some new players during the January transfer window. To boost Postecoglou’s defense, players like Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth are reportedly targets. Arthur Vermereen of Royal Antwerp is also reportedly a target.
The 18-year-old has been compared to Andres Iniesta and Xavi of Barcelona, and former Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has also lauded him.
