Report: Backroom role – Tottenham have now held initial talks with 43-year-old about leaving PL rival for backroom role

Tottenham have now held initial talks with 43-year-old about leaving PL rival for backroom role

Johan Lange and Tottenham Hotspur are said to have had preliminary discussions over the club’s director of football position.

According to a story from The Athletic, the 43-year-old’s potential departure from the club has already been discussed with Aston Villa.

After Fabio Paratici left Spurs earlier this year, the club has yet to name a new director of football. As The Athletic reported earlier on Thursday, Paratici has kept up his relationship with Tottenham, which has contributed to their interest in Guglielmo Vicario.

Tottenham have held talks with Johan Lange

They also appear to be working on setting up a meeting.According to The Athletic, Tottenham has had preliminary discussions about possibly hiring Johan Lange.

In the year 2020, Aston Villa hired Lange to be their sporting director. However, he was appointed as the team’s global director of football development and foreign academies this year after a restructuring process.

The Villans have achieved remarkable success in the past twelve months and will undoubtedly look back on their sporting director as a successful appointment. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will pursue their initial interest in the club, however, with less than three months until the January window, it would appear to be an opportune moment to appoint an appointment in this area.

The Athletic notes that, during his time at the club, Lange was responsible for the recruitment of players such as Ollie Watkins, Emi Martinez, and others. Therefore, there is no doubt that he has made some astute decisions.

Tottenham supporters may be hoping that, if appointed as the club’s new director of football, he may return to the club and try to secure one or two of Villa’s signings in future windows.

Tottenham handed Brennan Johnson injury boost as return date mapped out

Tottenham striker Brennan Johnson is hoping to provide an injury boost to the club by making a return from a two-week lay-off with a hamstring injury.

He limped out of the club’s win over Liverpool two weeks ago and has not featured for Wales since.

He is expected to miss Saturday’s match against Luton, but is aiming to return in time for the October 23 game against Fulham.

If Johnson is able to make a comeback, it would be a huge boost to Spurs, who are without Manolo Gabbiadini for at least two months after the striker sustained a knee injury during training on deadline day.

Gabbiadini is expected to be replaced by fellow wide player Bryan Gil, while Gabbiadine has also been ruled out with a knee injury.

Tottenham have also been without injured wingers Ivan Perizic, Bryan Gil, Rodrícán Bentancur and Golo Lo Celso.

After a strong first-half performance against Arsenal, Johnson will be expected to add further quality to Spurs’ forward ranks ahead of a busy run of fixtures after international break.

Spurs host Fulham on Saturday, followed by a clash with Crystal Palace, before a mouth-watering match against Chelsea on the 6th November, when manager Mauricio “Pochettino” Pochettino makes his return as a manager against his old club. Spurs then have a game against Wolves before the international break in the month of December.

In Johnson’s absence, Wales will be without the striker for their key Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Croatia and the Republic of Armenia.
