£25M STAR COULD RIP UP HIS CONTRACT AFTER TOTTENHAM LINKS
Rumour has it that Jota, who left Celtic for Saudi Arabia last summer for a £25m fee, is thinking about leaving the club and moving on. It’s been reported by reporter Rudy Galetti that Jota has been thinking about his future and is ready to make a move. He was part of Saudi Arabia’s big spending spree last summer when they signed him from Celtic for £25m. However, the move didn’t go to plan and Jota didn’t feature for the first few games, leading to speculation that he might be looking to leave the Middle East soon.
Galetti has confirmed that Jota will not be included in the squad for the upcoming winter transfer window, leaving him without a place to play. This is an incredible development, leaving Jota to search for a solution. With transfer windows having closed in Europe, Jota appears to be in a quandary.
It has been reported that he is weighing his options, either attempting to influence Nuno’s decision or opting to end his contract. However, becoming a free agent would not provide Jota with the opportunity to play, as he would need to be registered at a new club by January. Nevertheless, it may be beneficial for Jota to train and prepare with a new team, given his current situation in Saudi Arabia.
In late August, it was reported that Tottenham had been made aware of Jota’s availability, potentially opening the door for him to move to North London on loan with a late switch.
The thought of Jota rejoining his former Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, at Tottenham was attractive; the Australian had loved him at Celtic, describing him as a “special player” during their time together.
Spurs have signed a different winger, Brennan Johnson, but have just announced that Ivan Perisic is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an injury.
This could open the way for Jota to move in, and Postecoglou will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the situation.
If Jota becomes a free agent, there are a number of clubs who will be interested in signing him.
