“It didn’t work” – Daniel Levy admits to making a big strategic mistake

Speaking on a fan forum, Daniel Levy acknowledged hiring errors he had made in the past.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham was a legitimate team that had spent years assembling a world-class squad.

They played appealing football, consistently placed in the top four, and had a distinct identity.

Under him, they also came extremely close to winning trophies several times, and in his final season, they nearly won the Champions League before losing to Liverpool.

After that, Pochettino was fired, and Levy has since acknowledged that the club changed its strategy and began employing “win now managers” rather than project managers.

Levy responded to a question regarding what had transpired over the previous few seasons and the reason for the absence of awards:

“We came so close with Poch and we changed strategy and hired win now managers, it didn’t work, wrong hires.

So maybe it will take longer, maybe we need this strategy and that’s why I hired Ange.”

And it turned out to be a brilliant choice. At the club, Ange Postecoglou has already had a significant impact. He immediately improved the atmosphere.

He has forged a unique connection between the coach, the players, and the supporters. The players enjoy playing for him, and they are producing some of the league’s most visually appealing football. In just a few months, all of this.

Even though Ange hasn’t yet been able to totally rebuild the team, the players he has brought in are world-class additions.

The old Tottenham appears to be returning for the first time since Pochettino, and the future under Ange is undeniably bright.
