The Sky Sports presenter urged the Whites’ players to “pull their fingers out” when they visit The Den on Thursday (September 14) in a statement made on the Championships Predictions Podcast.
He believes it will be “very tough” against a Lions side that has “plenty of fight” under Gary Rowett, but that it will be a “cracking game” in South London.
“Having played in it, it is more than tasty,” said Sky Sports EFL host Prutton. “There is a real edge to it. It will be a cracking game as a spectacle.
“But Leeds, all the faffing about with players, all the consignation about who’s there and who’s not, who wants to stay there and who’s moved on, all these ridiculous statements coming out from players that have moved on. Now is the time for the people that have been left to pull their fingers out.
“It’ll be tough, a very tough one against a Millwall side that, as we’ve seen, have got plenty of fight in them in regards to how they’re led by Gary Rowett.”
Time to stand up
As Leeds looks to put together a strong run, it is now time for the players who are still at Elland Road to speak up and make themselves heard.
After a number of first-team players left his club to fulfill contract terms, Daniel Farke had a less than ideal start to the summer transfer window.
However, things started to come together at the end of August when he welcomed several newcomers, and he will now be trying to go forward.
The match against a strong Championship team at Millwall will undoubtedly be difficult and provide the Whites manager an understanding of where his team is right now.
As Prutton hinted at, there will probably be a genuine edge to the contest, so they will need to strive to find a balance between putting up a fight but still maintaining composure when it counts to win.
