“So that’s one thing we are going to rectify and give him the deck of cards that he needs to be successful once we go back up. Because I think he could be a very successful coach across Europe, I think this isn’t just ‘hey, get us through the Championship’.”
Two years is a very long period in football, so that’s one thing to keep in mind. Marathe made his remarks in the summer before Leeds lost to Southampton in the play-off final, which prevented them from getting promoted.
Although it’s easy to understand why the 49ers might be concerned about Farke’s top flight record, Marathe’s Monday statement also alluded to a long-term plan:

If a manager change is planned, it is always more difficult to implement a long-term plan. Top management is mindful that, given Premier League spending regulations, every cent counts.
Giving a boss sacking compensation would be considered spending. The pay amount for employing a coach who has a contract with another team would also be included. Additionally, this money should go towards hiring new players because the Premier League has to rebuild its squad.
