Wayne Rooney remains committed to a prosperous managerial career.

According to reports, Wayne Rooney is expected to make a surprise comeback to management despite having a difficult time at Plymouth Argyle, his former team. The former Manchester United player departed the Championship team, which was in the relegation zone, to join Plymouth.

Rooney has had a difficult managerial career. The former England captain has held coaching positions at Derby County, DC United, Birmingham City, and most recently, Plymouth. In his 25 games, he only experienced victory five times before being fired by the Home Park team with a 20 percent winning record.

According to talkSPORT, Rooney is a contender for the Blackburn Rovers position despite his difficulties. It comes as Valerien Ismael, who only assumed leadership of Ewood Park in February of this year, is under increasing strain.

It followed the unexpected departure of manager John Eustace from Rovers to sign a contract with Rooney’s old team, Derby, who are battling near the bottom of the Championship standings. Ismael has led Blackburn to just one victory in their previous eight games, and in recent weeks, their dreams of qualifying for the playoffs have been crushed. With four games left in the season, Blackburn is presently located in 10th place in the Championship standings, seven points outside of the top six.

Rooney has insisted that he wants to pursue a lucrative career in management, and he recently declared on the Stick to Football podcast that he plans to go back to the dugout. Earlier this year, he stated: “I would like to return to managing, but it would have to be with the right club. It’s definitely the correct club.

“You seem to have that ego all the time, don’t you? You always have the assurance that you can make the most of a challenging or unpleasant circumstance. Of course, [in Plymouth], that was not the case. But I will appreciate spending time with my family.

Rooney reiterated his strategy in a different interview with Match of the Day, aiming for the positions at Everton and United. “The goal is to manage Manchester United or Everton; these are the big jobs you want to get to,” stated the former Champions League champion. However, it’s a procedure that I must follow in order to get myself back on track.

“I want to return to management in order to perhaps be able to take on one of the more important positions over the next ten years.
