As one of the players linked to a move to Elland Road, Julian Weigl is part of Leeds United’s preparations for life again in the Premier League.
Although Leeds has not yet earned promotion, it appears quite likely that Premier League football will return at this point with only four games left.
To offer the Whites the best opportunity of avoiding relegation, a lot of attention will already be on the summer transfer market when considering this.
Weigl has already been connected to Leeds United, and the most recent development demonstrates their current priorities.
Weigl could join Leeds United this summer
Since they were teammates at Borussia Monchengladbach, Daniel Farke will be well aware of Weigl’s strengths. Florian Pletternberg of Sky Sports reports via X that the Whites have approached him about signing.
Although his present team won’t be in a rush to sell because the 29-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2028, his positive relationship with Farke might make the difference.
Weigl is reportedly only interested in leaving Monchengladbach for a move to the Premier League, where he now makes £57,000 per week in the Bundesliga.
Although the report notes that negotiations between the two teams have not yet begun, Leeds appears to be able to provide that with four games remaining and a five-point edge.

Leeds must get summer recruitment right
Never before has the disparity in quality between the two divisions been so obvious, as the three promoted teams from the previous season are immediately returning to the bottom.
Leeds must make wise hiring decisions and select players who have proven they can produce at the highest level if they want to avoid it themselves. Weigl fits the description.

While securing their place in the top flight will be Elland Road’s primary priority, they will keep an eye out for any deals to offer them a slight advantage throughout the transfer window.
Farke already has a great team, but they will need to recruit even more talent if they want to stay in the Premier League.
