‘Damning’ – BBC pundit blasts Leeds star who had ‘No idea’ what to do in possession v Luton

Patrick Bamford in ‘damning’ claim after Luton v Leeds, BBC pundit furious

Patrick Bamford had a vibrant appearance during Saturday’s 1-1 draw between Leeds United and Luton Town.

After losing two more points at Kenilworth Road on April 5, Leeds took yet another hit in the Premier League promotion battle.

Daniel Farke’s team needed a spectacular goal from Dan James to salvage a point after falling behind just fifteen minutes into the match due to a goal from Isaiah Jones.

With a 2-1 victory over Coventry, Burnley moved up to the top of the table, pushing the Elland Road team out of the automatic promotion spots.

The strain on Farke at Leeds is growing.

Brenden Aaronson torn to shreds by BBC pundit

With his 27-minute appearance, Bamford argued for a larger role in the season’s last six games on a day when a number of players fell flat.

In his evaluation of the striker’s play, Jon Newsome said that he was “lively” and tried to trouble the Luton defense with his dashes.

However, the BBC analyst expressed a desire to see Bamford and Joel Piroe play together for a longer period of time and thought it was “damning” that Brenden Aaronson replaced the Dutchman so quickly.

The United States international was then criticized by Newsome for his lackluster performance and for frequently giving up possession at a low cost.
“When he came on, I thought Patrick looked really lively, he made loads of runs in behind, stretches the game”, Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds (5 April, 2:43 pm).

“It was just a bit damning that Patrick came on at a time when Joel Piroe went off. They only played together for maybe five or 10 minutes.

“As soon as Brenden Aaronson came on, we saw there were two or three occasions he got possession in forward areas and just, I think I said it in commentary, hoicked it away, just gave the ball away, no idea what to do with it.”

Newsome was critical of Aarsonson after Leeds’ draw against Luton.

Leeds in El Colapso trouble

Benjamin Bloom stated that despite Leeds’ previous performance, he still expects them to win all three points in their match on Saturday at Kenilworth Road.

He cautioned that if Leeds lost to Luton, they would be entering El Colapso zone, as they had done so in four of their previous five Championship games.

This is turning out to be the case as the Elland Road team is currently outside of the automatic promotion slots, which means they may have to play in the playoffs once more.

Many fans are still dealing with the heartbreak of last year’s playoffs and will be hoping that the squad can avoid a repeat of that situation this year.
