Four-Year Deal Offer On The Table: Defender says yes to joining Leeds United as 49ers put four-year deal ‘on the table-Report

In the midst of the drama surrounding Leeds United’s pursuit of promotion, it seems that the 49ers have agreed to sign a player from FC Porto at the end of the current campaign, Premier League or not.

Following Saturday’s draw, Leeds United’s attempt to advance on their second try is in jeopardy as Sheffield United leads by two points and Leeds is tied with Burnley. According to Tim Sherwood, Leeds will succeed.

Regardless of Leeds’ promotion status, the summer transfer market will look very different. At Southampton, the 49ers will try to activate Aaron Ramsdale’s relegation release clause if Leeds advance.

If it doesn’t increase, a lot of inventory will have to be sold in order to balance the books and pay the 20% parachute payout instead of the 45% one. However, an FC Porto player is reportedly in the sights of Leeds.

Leeds United table four-year contract to sign Porto defender

Leeds reportedly has begun negotiations to recruit Zaidu Sanusi, a defender for Porto. A contract that would last until the summer of 2029 is on the table, and the athlete is eager to relocate. To get the defender, Leeds is willing to spend £1.75 million.

Leeds is rumored to have had fruitful talks with Porto, who are probably amenable to the Nigerian player moving as he has only been handed six senior matches. June 2027 will mark the end of his contract.

Regardless of the division they end up in, it seems Leeds have reached an agreement, and since Sanusi is a left-back, it’s obvious the 49ers are preparing for life without Junior Firpo in the future.

If promoted, Leeds United can surely do better than Zaidu Sanusi

Over the past few years, this 22-time Nigerian international has made 128 appearances for Porto. He’s been battling to get a game for Porto this season, though, managing just six of those 128.

With promotion to the Premier League, Leeds will have access to a larger pool of players, including Ramsdale, for scouting. The fact that Leeds is committing to a player who is simply a backup at Porto looks odd.

If it doesn’t move up, then maybe Sanusi makes sense. However, given the uncertainties surrounding the summer transfer window, Leeds are not currently expected to be in the market for fresh hires.
