‘Unfortunate’ – BBC pundit gutted for Leeds ace after what happened to him last night

Karl Darlow ‘unfortunate’ as BBC pundit gutted for Leeds goalkeeper for Wales

This season, Karl Darlow has had difficulty replacing Illan Meslier in the Leeds goal.

As the Whites aim to advance to the Premier League, the Welshman has only made three appearances overall for a total of 270 minutes. He has started four of the country’s previous seven games, though, so his fortunes on the international front have not been impacted.

Darlow has been a solid backup.

Darlow, the standout player for Leeds, started the 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan but gave up a penalty kick from Askhat Tagybergan.

Meslier would undoubtedly prefer to be a starter and would try to leave for better opportunities if the Irishman were to be brought in.

Darlow has demonstrated that he can step in and still keep the Peacocks solid at the back, and his presence is beneficial to the squad and keeps the starter on his toes.

If that scenario materialises, the Whites could do worse than having the 34-year-old in reserve in case their new man sustains an injury and is sidelined for an extended period of time.

Alternatively, if they continue to have faith in Meslier despite his tendency towards mistakes, they should keep the veteran around in case his f
