‘Brilliant’ – Pundit backs Leeds to ‘pay whatever it takes’ for one transfer

Kalvin Phillips ‘to want Leeds United return’ as Ao Tanaka claim made

Prior to the summer transfer window, Kalvin Phillips has been linked to an emotional homecoming to Leeds United.

As of right now, Leeds will only concentrate on getting back into the Premier League before thinking about hiring, though they will keep an eye out for any possible early deals.

Leeds is still in the driver’s seat to reach that ultimate objective with eight games left, but they will need to improve their form if they want to cross the finish line.

After that is accomplished, Leeds will have a lot of work to do in the summer, and Phillips’ return to Elland Road may be one of those choices.

Leeds to seal ‘real coup’ with Phillips signing

Phillips has had trouble going forward ever since leaving Elland Road, and rumours that he would rejoin Leeds United have definitely raised interest.

It remains to be seen if the Whites would pursue that interest, but Paul Robinson told MOT Leeds News that he believes he will want the transfer.

He said: “I think it’d be a brilliant move for all parties. I think that would be a real coup. Ever since he left, has struggled. And he’ll be the first one to say that.

“His time at West Ham didn’t go particularly well for him. At Ipswich this season, he’s playing a lot more. But obviously, playing in a side that’s struggling, the opportunity if Leeds go up next year, it would just seem right.

“It’d just seem a really good fit for everyone. I think he’d be welcome back with open arms. And that stability in the Premier League that Leeds would need, it’d be the best signing that they could make in the summer.

“I think you look in the midfield. Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell and Ethan Ampadu have obviously been injured. Ilia Gruev plays in there. Kalvin Phillips plays ahead of all of them. Kalvin Phillips and Ampadu, potentially, as a holding midfield pair in the Premier League next year. It would be a key signing.

“I think that’s one way you go, OK, we’ll not necessarily break the bank, but we’ll pay whatever it takes. And I think the player would welcome it as well.”

Leeds must invest smartly this summer

Leeds needs to pay attention to the difficulties that have plagued the freshly promoted teams this season if they are promoted.

In order to prevent that, it is imperative to make wise hiring decisions, and Phillips’ signature would be the ideal place to start.

In addition to being familiar with the league, he is also familiar with the club, which is often important in situations like the one Leeds is probably going to encounter next season.
