Tottenham ‘hold talks with agent’ of star midfielder Postecoglou loves
Football Insider was exclusively informed by Mick Brown, the former senior scout at Man United and Blackburn who is still very well-connected at his former clubs, that negotiations have been held with the 24-year-old’s agency.
A number of Premier League teams are showing interest in Gomes, whose contract with Ligue 1 team Lille is set to expire in June. No new deal is in the works.
West Ham made a swift effort to recruit Gomes in an attempt to outshine their competitors, according to a report published by Football Insider on March 11.
Pre-contract negotiations have been open since January for the midfield player, but in the upcoming weeks, it is anticipated that these talks will pick up speed.
According to reports, Ange Postecoglou admires Gomes and has a clear plan for his position in the team, which will further improve Spurs’ chances.

Tottenham accelerate move to sign Angel Gomes
Postecoglou is a major admirer of Gomes and is the main reason Spurs are interested in the midfield player, according to a March 15 Football Insider report.
After spending more than ten years at Man United at their most successful time, Brown, who has extensive experience in recruiting elite players, clarified that Gomes would fit in well with the direction the team is taking under Postecoglou.
“The fact he’s available on a free is a big draw for any club,” he said.
“If you look at this Tottenham team, there are areas they’re going to need to improve in the summer and one of those is the midfield.
“James Maddison is a ‘get it, pass it’ type of player – not quite the same as Angel Gomes but that type of technically sound midfield player.
“But he’s not always a starter for them and that might be an issue.
“I think Tottenham have got to decide whether they’re a technical footballing team or if they want to be physical and battle their way through games.
“At the moment, I think they’re leaning towards the former.
“In that case, I think Gomes would be a good fit for them on a free transfer.
“From what I hear as well, the manager likes what he’s seen from him, so it’s one that makes a lot of sense.
“He’ll know how he sees him fitting into the side, what he wants him to do and how he wants him to play.
“They’ll already be speaking to his agent and representatives about a deal because they’re not the only club interested – we’ve spoken about West Ham already.
“So they’ll want to convince him that Tottenham is the right move for his career.“

Ange Postecoglou open to Bissouma exit after latest twist
Tottenham is searching for a new midfield player since Postecoglou has made it obvious that the position needs to be improved during the summer transfer window.
On March 15, Brown informed Football Insider that Yves Bissouma, 28, is no longer in the manager’s plans, and that Tottenham will accept offers for the player.
This comes after Football Insider reported earlier this month that Bissouma and Tottenham would have “crunch talks” regarding his position in the team.
Come summer, he will have just 12 months left on his current Spurs contract, and as of right now, no negotiations have taken place regarding a new one.
