Chelsea make decision on future of £46.3 million flop as Aston Villa join chase

Joao Felix, a 25-year-old Portuguese international, is a target for Aston Villa, who Chelsea will try to let go of during the summer transfer window.

A report by TEAMtalk claims that Aston Villa is interested in Joao Felix. The Chelsea failure is the target of the Villans, who are searching the market for a versatile attacker ahead of the summer transfer season. The Portuguese international has had a difficult time making an impression at AC Milan, and when his loan period is over, the Blues hope to let him go.

Joao Felix and his struggles

Joao Felix made his debut at SL Benfica more than six years ago, and at the time, he was one of the world’s top young attacking prospects. Atletico Madrid spent a lot of money to acquire him after his breakout season, which won him a transfer away from his boyhood club. Nevertheless, his loan stints with Chelsea and Barcelona did not turn out as well as he had hoped, and the spell did not go as planned.

Felix’s disastrous tenure at Atletico Madrid came to an end last summer when Chelsea paid £46.3 million to get him. The 25-year-old, however, had a difficult first half of the 2024–25 season before AC Milan gave him a way out during the winter transfer window. The player is still having problems, thus the relocation hasn’t worked out.

With just one goal and one assist in 10 games across all competitions, the Portuguese international’s solitary goal came in his debut. Therefore, it will be unexpected if Felix stays at AC Milan past the summer transfer season. He is reportedly becoming less likely to stay at San Siro, according to recent reports. Aston Villa will try to save the Chelsea loanee, though.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Joao Felix was a target for Aston Villa during the winter transfer window, however the deal fell through. Given the Villans’ current predicament over the long-term prospects of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, it makes sense that interest in the Chelsea failure is still high.

Felix’s market value is still high in spite of his difficulties at Chelsea and AC Milan. A summer transfer is possible, and Unai Emery in particular is eager to bring the struggling Portuguese international to Aston Villa.

It would be unexpected, though, if Chelsea were to recover even a small portion of the £46.3 million they spent to acquire the 25-year-old last summer. It will be intriguing to see what Felix’s future holds.

Marcus Rashford given dressing down and told to leave Aston Villa as Man Utd proven right

Bryan Robson concurs that Marcus Rashford’s strong start at Aston Villa is demonstrating why Manchester United was correct to provide him a lucrative new contract just two years prior to his departure. However, the Old Trafford icon hasn’t held back while publicly humiliating Rashford, emphasising that his January departure wasn’t even justified.

The 27-year-old tried to break out of a rut he had fallen into following his career-best 2022–2023 season by leaving his boyhood club before the winter deadline. His face is smiling again at Villa Park, where he is playing for a squad that is better than United and getting ready for a Champions League quarterfinal matchup with Paris Saint-Germain. Though Robson is witnessing flashes of Rashford’s potential as a player under Unai Emery, he has been critical of assertions that he is enjoying football at a new club right away.

Chelsea “considers scrapping deal” when Man Utd officials decide to cut Jadon Sancho. The Manchester United star who caused “massive concern” is now thriving as Paul Scholes steps back.

Manchester United “wanted to make Marcus Rashford gesture,” but PSR and Arsenal stopped them.
