According to journalist Graham Bailey, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy’s efforts to rehire former managing director of football Fabio Paratici have proved unsuccessful.

It is doubtful that the Italian businessman will rejoin Spurs, although he is expected to return to football after serving an 18-month suspension for financial issues while at Juventus.

Even though Levy “pushed” for Paratici to return to Tottenham, the former North London manager reportedly accepted to take over as AC Milan’s next sporting director in April 2023.

Paratici now seems to be the front-runner for the position at San Siro, although the Serie A powerhouses also had Andrea Berta, the new sporting director at Arsenal, on their shortlist.

Bailey claims that Paratici has turned down the chance to rejoin Tottenham in favour of working in Italy, where he played and served as an executive before joining the Spurs in 2021.

According to reports, Levy was eager to rehire the 52-year-old as a sporting director, with duties akin to those of Luis Campos at Paris Saint-Germain.

During his two years at Tottenham, the chairman is said to have had “huge respect” for Paratici and his efforts in North London.

The ‘excellent’ Italian was in charge of signing players like Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, and Destiny Udogie, among others.

Kulusevski, who has made 42 appearances and contributed 10 goals and 10 assists this season, is Tottenham’s second-leading goal scorer.

Tottenham is headed for its worst Premier League finish since finishing in 14th place in the 2003–04 season after enduring a poor campaign.

Concerns have also been raised in recent weeks regarding Ange Postecoglou’s future, as the Spurs are already looking at possible replacements for the Australian.
